A New 12-string for Cricket?
I think I found a 12 string that I am going to get. It's a Takamine EG523c-12. It's got solid spruce top and flamed maple back and sides. she looks great and sounds very nice too. plus the electronics look like they are nice. (i'm gonna plug them in the next time i go to try the guitar) they have a built in tuner.
here's a link so ya'll can check her out. please let me know what you guys think )thought it won't change MY mind about it, i would still ike to hear from you guys)

- Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

maple is a very transparent wood... most of the sound comes from the topwood as it is, but when you use maple pretty much ALL the sound comes from the topwood instead of a combination of top + b/s. not to mention its too bright for my tastes.

i see...i didn't find it overly bright....moreso than some others but i felt it was a nice sound....maybe it helped that it was a jumbo body? (i don't know too much about the tone of woods and body types)shane wrote:maple is a very transparent wood... most of the sound comes from the topwood as it is, but when you use maple pretty much ALL the sound comes from the topwood instead of a combination of top + b/s. not to mention its too bright for my tastes.

the jumbo body will add more bass, so it probably compliments the maple better than a smaller body. and yes i love taylors.
