So I have been trying to nail "so much to say" as far as the sound of daves guitar goes. I am playing a 414ce LTD w/Indian Rosewood back/sides, with the ES system. I am using a Marshall acoustic AS50D amp, but cant seem to get that tone out of this combo. I know Dave has some expensive gear, but I dont think you need a ton of expensive gear to get that sound when he plays that song, it just sounds really good to me. Im not sure exactly how to explain the sound, but Im sure all of you know exactly the sound I am looking for, kinda on the bassy side. Anyways if any of you are familiar with my amp, can I achieve this sound but just havent figured it out yet? Is there an effects pedal that can help me achieve this sound? Am I using the wrong amp, should I be using an electric amp?
As you can tell, I have no experience with amps, never plugged any of my guitars in before, but for some reason I really want this tone badly!!
Thanks for all the help, I need as much as I can get!
Thank you
Trying to achieve a certain sound- Please help me out!
try checking out an acoustic pedal to enhance your tone like the Aphex Acoustic Xciter. i have it and love it
here's a video showing the difference. it's subtle, but it may solve your problem in looking for that bassy sound

What are using as your reference point? If you're trying to nail the sound from the album recording it's going to be difficult. AFAIK, he was primarily using a gibson chet atkins sst at the time the album was made, which isn't an acoustic guitar. Then there's the issue of how it was recorded and mixed and all that jazz.
