Weissenborn is the name of the vintage guitars he is associated with. They are all koa wood, hollow neck lap slides made in Hawaii in the 19teens and 1920's. They definitely have a characteristic tone, especially unplugged. He doesn't play these guitars anymore live ( but still on the recordings), he claims because the old glue could no longer handle the volume they were playing at. He grew up the grandson of a luthier, so he designed a new semi acoustic lap slide which he plays live now. It has tone comparable to the Weissenborn, at least from what I can tell.

If you're into slides, dont plan on finding a Weissenborn for less than 3 grand. They're pretty rare. Ben has said he has at least 7.
