Amp for Les Paul

Unread post by sfmartins » Thu May 29, 2008 2:06 pm

A friend of mine is looking for a nice amp to plug his Classic Gibson Les Paul.
He can spend around $1700.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Depends what kind of sound he wants. This is too broad of a question generally.

Yeah, I guess that's right...

I think it's mainly distortion powerchords or some melodic riffs.
Not many crazy solos...

my head would explode if I tried to type everything I wanted to.

Does he want solid state or tube? Does he want a stack or just looking for something to mess around on? 1700 is a lot of money, but for high quality audio equipment, specifically heads and a speaker cabinet from a reputable brand will cost more than triple that.

That said, I recommend Orange amps, Mesa Boogie cabinets, and Soldano heads.

Vox AC30 + Les Paul = Melted Faces
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?
