Guild's or Washburn's anyone?

Unread post by DreaminBassMunky » Wed Jun 25, 2003 10:38 am

I have two guitars, both are actually my dad's  but I play them a lot more than he does. One is a 30+ year old Guild, and the other is a Washburn. I really enjoy playing the Guild because it has a very natural feel, it's good for relaxed playing, but when I'm playing along with some live DMB i whip out the Washburn, mostly because has a nice new twangy kind of sound. I was just wondering if anyone else owed anything besides a Martin...or a Taylor.

I know not everyone has one but Martina and Taylor's are very popular subjects on these boards.

Guilds are very nice guitars...Washburn has some real nice affordable guitars...and hey, I only got my Taylor not too long ago here...before I was banging away on my Gibson SST...and my dad's Fender that I used to record my Typical Situation solo (with the tab...the one on the site)...

Guilds are sweet. That vintage is probably worth some cash if its in good condition.

I'm like you with acoustics. I'll live with my entry level Takamine because I'm going to be neck deep in student debts for quite awhile. I always think that I'll appreciate the brand new HD 28 Martin more after I slum around on my beater for awhile.

I love my strat though.

oh man I play a knock off strat that my dad's friend made, and I love it to death. On a note about the price on the vintage, my dad bought the guitar in the 70's for like 3 or 400 bucks. The same model goes for around 1300 or 1400 now. And it's a sweet accoustic guitar.

Check this out: My uncle made a TWELVE string telecaster. He ordered the body with some weird wood, then put the guitar together with parts from his others.

GUILD!! im a little bias...cause i have one-a D30. i really love it and i think it's great for dave-cause that's basically all i play. but as far as the guitar goes...maple back, sides, neck, and a spruce? top....im not really sure-but it looks just incredible and the back is much thicker (carved) than standard guitars so they didn't put any bracing on it and this guitar just booms those chords. id say it is probably better suited for a rythym type of style like dave's or many others, because it just has an incredibly full sound but those lead riff's will still jump out there. I had a bridge pickup put in- and just for a little comparison, my friend's takamine has to have the volume set on 7 on the amp when we play and mine is on 4.5, my pickup is a bit better, but this guitar puts it out there, and that makes it just easier to play. last time i saw, they run something under 1000, not cheap, but it will be a very long time before i buy another guitar. hope this helps
I am who I am who I am.....Who am I, Requesting some enlightenment.

Buying a guitar isn't an expense, it is a priority.
