PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok this is gunna be long so please bear with me.
Ive been continually listening to dave and tim and I just cant figure out what the heck tim uses for his sustained delay sounds. Here is a clip of EXACTLY what I want. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... 3C7009DD98 (sound clip expires in 7 days email me if you want me to re-upload
anyway... Im looking into getting a fishman loudbox 100 amp and a Boss DD-6 im thinking that combo will be amazing both on tonal quality, playability, and give me that real warm full sound im looking for...plus i can plug a mic into it...
I need to know if this is the direction I should be going... I also need to know.... in that clip... did he use a volume pedal or something so the initial PICK noise was gone. It just sort of comes in like awwwwAAAHHh wwaaAAAHH ..... u know what im saying when you listen to the WHOLE clip.
I have a martin DCME and a fender electric guitar amp that just sounds.... nasaly. It dosent pick up the acoustic clearly and the effects on it are quite poor IMHO...but i went to sweetwater down the road and played the fishman 100... it sounded amazing... clean,crisp...perfect... but it dosent have any effects other than a LIGHT reverb...thats why im looking for an effects pedal or soemthing to give me that tim reynolds sound.
If anyone could please point me in the proper direction pf where I should head gear wise. Is there a multi effect pedal or soemthing else that would be BETTER???
Im basing my decision on this list i got from http://www.timreynolds.com and about 5 min playin on the fishman amp....

Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler
Zoom Rhythmtrack 234

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Volume pedal and delay pedal. Start with the volume all the way down, pick a note and raise the volume. The other noises are just really good playing.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats what i thought. Volume low, pick, raise volume and with it the delay will pick up the 'pure' tone instead of the pick waaaaaaaaaa pick waaaaaaa pick waaaaaaaa.....etc. Thanks for the help.
But... do you think the DD6 is the way to go. It seems so considering tim uses it in 99% of his songs. Im just makin sure there isnt something else im missing short of a $300,000 recording studio haha.
thank you!

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i have the dl-4 and a dd-3. To get the bartender and don't drink the water sweeping sounds i use the dl-4. But the dd-6 should do nearly everything else.

I've had a DD5 but I upgraded to a DL4. It is much more versatile. If you can afford it, buy it.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main difference between the DD5 and DD6 is that the DD5 uses an external tap tempo pedal (extra $$) while the DD6 is internal.
The reason that Tim has both is most likely due to the rhythmic delay. The DL4 does not have dotten 8th notes, while the DD5/6 do.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DD6 reverse mode is also different from the DD5. DD6 still reproduces the "forward" part, which is pretty annoying...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You were right in your post near the top. You keep the volume down as you pick the note to cut out the "attack" sound. As you raise the volume, you hear the sustained sound. The result is a smooth violinish sound. Depending how quickly you raise and lower the volume you can get all sorts of different variations.

Cool that looks sweet. Im stil sooooo pumped to get that fishman. Its really loud (100W continuous) but its silent too. I tryed a harke amp and there was too much noise. Especially with the onboard effects. I think the fishman and some effects would be the perfect combo of loud/clear/crazy haha.
Runs i really appreciate it man thanks for helpin me out. Luckily my friend works at sweetwater.... im gettin
fishman (msrp 599) for $390
Boss DD6 (msrp 160) for 100
and im still tryin to see if they have any volume pedals but i might have to order online.
i just cant wait to use it for my gigs comin up in april.
