Potential problems caused by climate

I purchased a Gibson Chet Atkins SST off eBay about 2 months ago while I was at college in Buffalo and it just stayed in my room with out any problems really so when I came home to Albany for Thanksgiving I brought it with me, I figured I'd have more time to play. So it made the ride in my friends trunk. Now I just got a chance to take it out now and I noticed that there's a few bumps right underneath the bridge. It sounds fine but these worry me. They're not extremely noticeable except when the light hits them but I'm worried that some cracking could occur or something. I was also wondering if the bumps would relieve themselves and disappear after the guitar settles or something, though I'm afraid that should've happened already and it also has to make the same trip again, though in a different vehicle and probably not in a cold trunk.

Hmmm that sounds like something in the finish and not in the wood itself. Avoid those huge temperature swings (cold trunks) and you should be fine. They haven't made those in a while and I would think that guitar would have settled by now.

Pictures would help cause im not sure exactly what you are talking about.

Yeah this guitar is from 93 so I meant like settle to the new temperatures. Even though it's basically the same here as it was in Buffalo, I'm just thinking the trunk was a big change from my room.

I was going to post some pictures, and I still may try but I don't think the problem will show up in pictures.

I usually try to avoid putting my guitars in the trunk in either the winter or summer. I live in Iowa and it gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. When I pack up for a gig my guitar is always the last thing that is put in the car before I leave, and it always rides shotgun or in the backseat.

That being said, if you have a local guitar shop with a tech you trust you could just take it in and see what they say about it. Probably nothing to worry about though.

I actually decided to leave it home and not make the return trip to Buffalo. I have only less than 3 weeks before I'm home again for extended winter/X-mas break so I figured I can just use my old Yamaha for that time. I plan on bringing it to someone when I get back since it needs a setup anyway. I haven't had one done yet.
