Are these things worth 200 bones? I have no experince with recording but am looking to get something off ebay. Also, do you need a mic or will this thing pick up guitar and voice at the same time? any help will help

- Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.
It looks pretty cool and its tiny. It has a built in Mic but i would imagine you would get better results with a separate mic.
I am not a huge fan of standalone recorders because they are harder to edit with. If you have a decent computer then i would use that and get some sort of firewire input device.

Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

You're not going to get very good results trying to play and sing into this thing.
Buffalo is on track with the external device. Buy some sort of input device and an MXL 990 mic.

Just over the 200 you'd pay for that thing, and a great deal more versatile.
