Dave uses D'addario mediums.

I prefer Martin phosphor bronze mediums, you gotta change them more often than coated strings but they are a third of the price.

D'addario EXP mediums, isn't it? I could be wrong.

I've been using elixier for a long time, but recently switched to an uncoated string. Like the sound of the uncoated a little bit more, but they have to be changed more often (but then again, they are half the price of the elixiers)

those of you that use the EXPs do you hear a significant difference in the Phospher bronze compared to the bronze 80/20s?

I always liked the phospher bronze, a very mellow tone.

yeah same kind but you need two sets of strings to do it cause the normal guages just break when you try to go that high with them. There should be instructions on the main page for it.

I don't have the link available but I remember Monk telling us on the Road Page Blog that Dave actually uses the EJ17's in phosphor bronze, not the EXP's which are D'Addario's version of Elixirs (albeit differently coated). EXP's are priced close to 15 bucks, EJ17's are at like 6. Maybe someone can dig up a link to it...
