Thinking about downgrading.

Unread post by bighuk » Sun Sep 23, 2007 4:43 pm

I could use the money and I just really don't play as much as I used to. I was wondering if you guys could give me some insight into how much this may be worth. I'm probably just gonna pick up some 200$ alvarez to bang around on. I really don't think I take full advantage of it.

Martin DR
Fishman Natural II pickup // Pro installed.
Bone Bridge pins(with ebony dots) and Bone saddle // Pro installed.
Has the original case.

The guitar is setup with a medium action and was done by the luthier that did the pickup and saddle/pins. Still got all the paper work and what not.

Unfortunately i've spent close to probably 1400$ on this guitar after all the work put into and various parts, i'm looking to get hopefully half of that but not expecting it considering it's a laminated back guitar.

Guitar has some blemishes and what not from lugging it around and playing it 2 sheets to the wind.

I've had it for about 3 years now.

Any ideas guys?

my guess is depending on condition you are looking at $450-700.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

If you're really bent on selling it, then getting an Alvarez is probably a good option if you just want a banger... they're pretty decent guitars for the price in my opinion.
I would consider how much use you're going to get out of the money though...if you get 700 bucks out of selling this guitar and you buy another, thats just around 400-500 bucks. My feeling is that a good instrument is something you can keep forever and get good use out of, whereas you could burn through a lot of that cash just on food or whatever. but that's really your call, you've got to decide if it's worth it.
good luck!

Don't do it! 4 years ago I got rid of my $2000 Breedlove cause I wasn't playing it alot at that time so I kept my first guitar, a $200 Yamaha.
Currently I am playing alot again, and now I'm looking to buy another quality guitar. Hang on to your guiatr as the itch to play will come back around and you'll wish you had your nice guitar.
