Moving from Light to Medium strings is chewing up my fingers
Other than playing more to toughen them up, does anyone have any advice for how to toughen up the tips of my fingers?
Also I bought polywebs ... They seem rougher than I'm used to. Are the nanowebs the ones that are slicker? LOL, I can't ever remember.

I thought polywebs were slicker... but then again, i have been using the nanoweb phos. bronze since they have been out, so I can't really remember much about Polywebs.
As for toughening up your finger tips, I would say the best way is to just keep playing! That's really the only way they are going to get used to the thicker strings

I went with mediums because lights tend to have too much play when I'm picking individual notes.Grachi wrote:I thought polywebs were slicker... but then again, i have been using the nanoweb phos. bronze since they have been out, so I can't really remember much about Polywebs.

I can only play for about 10 mins right now before it's just too painful and have to stop for a few hours. In the long run I think it's good to move to Mediums but dammit

a tip that an old guitar teacher told me about was to apply pressure to your fingertips with a credit card and rough them up a bit. This can easily be done while watching t.v. or during a boring lecture in class. So far it has helped me keep my callusses. All in all, the best way is to just keep practicing on your guitar.

...Easy E, that's a shitty thing to say (this from a 'faggot'). For a fan of a band whose songs are all about love and tolerance and such, you clearly spend too much time playing and not enough time listening. Jackass.

I didn't search for the word, I came to the topic looking for actual advice on switching from light to medium strings. I was just surprised that someone would use the word. It's offensive whether it's from a stupid-ass movie or not. Just because someone else said it doesn't make it funny. Or less rude and ignorant. I wasn't trying to dig up a thread, and it being old doesn't make it less relevant. I love that you all jump to the defense of your friend just because I'm the new guy and have a problem with someone using such offensive language, meanwhile I'm apparently the only one that gives a shit about what Dave's lyrics are about.
Whatever. I assumed this community would be more about honest advice, not quoting idiotic movies and ignoring each other's questions.
