Martin Comparisons

Unread post by renold » Thu Apr 12, 2007 5:25 pm

So what are the bigger differences between the 000-28, OMJM (John Mayer) and the 000-28EC (Eric Clapton) Models other then looks? Is there really any point in considering one of the signature models even with their $800 more price tags? I've played a 000-28 in person and am considering it, but I have to travel a decent ways for the nearest JM or EC models. Opinions?

this is just blind guessing but I'm guessing they are different woods and sizes between the OMJM and the OOO-28EC. an OM is a little bigger then a OOO I think... Other then that, I dunno maybe some of the materials the guitars are built with.

I have no idea, but I would check at http://www.umgf.com. They will probably be able to help you out.

For what its worth, the EC's seem to be hit or miss (at least the few I've played have been).

Nice, thanks for the link, definetly going to have to check there. As for Grachi's comment..Martin says on their website 00 are Orchestra and 000 are Auditorium- But when you go to body shapes and look at 000 14 fret shapes it shows all of the 00 guitars also. Makes no sense. (Doesn't show 000 if you look at 00 14 fret models)

But thanks for the help guys

Yeah, for these specific Martin questions the umgf is the best.

Good luck!

On Martin's website they have specs on every little aspect of the guitar. Here's links to the 3 you're looking at:

http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/choosing ... m=000-28EC

http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/choosing ... d&m=000-28

http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/choosing ... hn%20Mayer

From the website it looks like the 000-28 and the 000-28EC are basically the same except that the EC has a modified V neck shape whereas the regular 28 has a low profile neck.

I'm not sure about the differences between the 000's and 00's though...
