How can I get pedal steel sound?

Unread post by RunsWithBuffalo » Wed Apr 04, 2007 10:25 pm

Ok, I really love this instrument. I play folky country stuff and pedal steel compliments it perfectly. My only problem is I don't play it, dont know anyone who does, and can't for the life of me make my guitar sound like one.

Do any of you know of any synths, plugins, guitar settings, etc... to achieve this sound?

I heard Garageband has some, have any of you used it. Im getting my mac in a week and i cant wait?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

you have to get really good with a slide, but even then it will be difficult.

Like he said, just start practicing with a slide a lot. I have a fishman aura that has a real good setting for that "twangy" sound. Even when I play the guitar in a normal position with a slide I can get sounds that are similar to the sound that I think you are trying to achieve. Good luck

Heavy distortion is a start. Check Derek Trucks' rig and see what he uses. Even maybe Duane Allman.
