I going to be dropping a lot of money for my next guitar, hopefully my last for a while. I know buying a guitar should have nothing to do with other people's opinions, I've played long enough to know the quality of the sound, blah blah blah. I am just curious as to what guitar you guys would get and why. So many choices...
Also, on the taylors, should it be cutaway or not? I know this is going to most likely turn into another Martin vs Taylor battle, but rightfully so !

i voted for the 814(ce(s)) because if something doesnt happen the way i want to then ill probably get that (maybe even go through custom shop and get cocobolo instead of east indian rosewood) - anyway - are you looking for simple or shiny? the 7xx is the same as the 8xx in sound... just different cosmetics. i love taylor guitars, especially since theyve revoiced the dreads and jumbos. hopefully theyll do that for the GA's soon. even if they dont i still like the sound more than martins, but thats just my opinion. ive played a lot of both brands and i think taylors just feel right. i would get a cutaway just because it really sucks to try to use the higher frets without a cutaway and id get electronics because i might start leading worship at my youth group (one of the guitarists is leaving i think... you never know) .... but anyway, bottom line:
ALL GUITARS ON THAT LIST ARE AMAZING GUITARS AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU GET YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! GO OUT AND PLAY THEM AND SEE WHAT YOUR TASTES ARE!

What happened to samusic's screamin' deals you were pitching so hard before? Did you stop getting the $0.03 commission per hit you directed to their site or something?

I thought for sure you'd be pushing a Lakewood...

i voted for the 814ce cause mine should be here any day. i was looking at pretty much what you have on your list, except it was the 614 instead of the 714.

No one can tell you which guitar you are going to like the best. Try to play them all and see which one sings to you. Also for medium to hard strumming most people prefer the dreads (d-28, d-35, Taylor X10) and for light strumming and flat / fingerpicking the Martin's 000 Auditoriums or Taylor X14's. Dave used his DM3MD most of the time on the D & T tour except when he was fingerpicking. That's when he used his 914. The Taylors are brighter in sound so they can cut through the band noise better. I think that's why Dave uses them on the DMB tours so much. Like shane wrote, they are all amazing guitars. I don't think you can be disappointed with any of them.

x14 taylors are good for fingerpicking and strumming.... thats what makes them so special.. x10s are best for strumming and not so much as fingerpicking... x12s are for fingerpicking (unless you plug them in... then theyre fine either way)... x15s are incredibly close to x10s in sound - just a bit bigger and louder.

Thank you guys for the input, I appreciate it. I just like to see what other people like, possibly see any negative sides to them, but then again I didn't really give you guys a chance seeing as how they are all incredibly crafted guitars. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
