I bought a Martin Sigma DR-41 today

Unread post by Taylor614 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 1:27 pm

Today, I walked into this guitar store and played a Sigma DR-41. It looked great, and sounded even better. I've been looking for an inexpensive dread to play, and this is it. The only thing is, it's hard to tell that it's an inexpensive guitar. The sound and look of it are amazing for the price. I traded my Alvarez 12 string, which I never played, and got the guitar for nothing. I'll see if I can get some pics up later today or tomorrow. For all you Sigma haters out there, this guitar would prove you wrong. It'll definitely share equal time with my Taylors.
My guitars:
Taylor 714
Taylor 614ce
Martin Sigma DR-41
Epiphone Chet Atkins SST (Ebony)
Danelectro 56-U2 reissue
Fender American Deluxe Strat
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster
BC Rich Eagle Custom

It doesn't match the sound of my Taylor. Yeah, I see what you did there. :D

I didn't play the 12 too much, so no use letting it collect dust when I could get a guitar that I'll actually play.

I really like the inlays on it, but still haven't had the chance to play one.

It's a really great sounding and great playing guitar. I'm using it as my writing guitar for now. Maybe i'll install a pickup and play it out eventually.
I'll try to get some pics up.

hey speaking of sigma, are they suppose to be any good? I have a 25-year old Sigma DR-3 that I've always thought to sound pretty decent, but I haven't been able to find out much info on it on the web (I just got it a few years ago from a relative who never played it anymore). I've always figured Sigma to be like the Epiphone of Martin.

The Sigma that I got is great. The sound and playability are very good. I also consider it to be the Epiphone of Martin. I mean it says Sigma by Martin on the headstock, so they're affiliated somehow.
