strings

Unread post by IDrinkTooMuch » Sun Jan 21, 2007 7:15 pm

lately ive been using either elixir lights or exp lights (both phosphor bronze) on my 314ce, but i'm kind of looking for a little more of a "beefy" sound if you know what i mean. i don't really want to put mediums on my guitar, but i want something a little heavier than lights. i think i'm gonna try these out. they seem to be somwhere between lights and mediums:

i don't want to put too much stress on it. grand auditoriums are meant to take lighter strings.

jayme and i both use nanoweb light/mediums and swear by them. i have never played a better set of strings. if you want beefier sound i would go with the regular ones. if i can remember i got a brighter tone form the bronze. i think.

but the light mediums are dope, you get that fuller sound form the top three strings being a little heavier, but retain that playability by keeping the lighter bottom three.

I normally use the d'addario bluegrass strings and really like them alot. The Elixirs you show look to be the same thing (as far as gauges) so if you are already using elixirs I'm sure you'd love those.

Ya :). Go with the D Adario's. I tried them once on my 714ce and got a beefier sound, but a little more muddied. For Taylors I have decided that the Elixir PB's get the best sound.
