714-CE or LV-09
714-CE or LV-09
Hey guys. I've come a long way in guitar playing, and its time for me to buy my first high end guitar. I've narrowed it down to a Taylor 714-CE or a Larrivee LV-09. Both are very nice guitars, and money is not a problem.
Which should I get?

while looking for a guitar in my price range (less than 1,000), I tried a taylor 314, but ended up going with a larrivee L-03... doesn't help you much I don't guess

I would go with the Larrivee. I haven't been too impressed with any of the Taylors I've played (I'm pretty sure I played a 714CE too, but don't really remember). And from what I've read on other websites, most people seem to favor Larrivee over Taylor . Like someone already said, it's really about preference. If you like how the taylor sounds/plays better go with it.
Also, why are you limiting to just those two brands? I was very impressed with higher end Gibsons as well. And if money is really no problem, then you might want to get a custom built guitar from a premier luthier
Like my brother, I just was looking for a guitar under $1000 (or close too it), and I got a Larrivee.. it was by far most impressive in MY price range.

Both guitars sound good in their own way, they sound very different to me though. Go play both and pick one. I have a hellishly great 714ce, I have not found one that sounds as good as mine so im a little bias when I say go with the 714.

I own a 714CE. It is very fine instrument. I bought a Martin HD-28V back in November. What a guitar! But the 714CE, with the cedar top, is in a class by itself. You won't regret buying a 714CE. And don't listen to the boneheads who have to put down other guitars just to make their own seem superior. Sound is in your head. Not somebody else's. If it sounds good to you, it sounds good. Go with what sounds best to you. Shoot, I started out with a guitar from S&H Green stamps. The sound is not in the guitar; it's in your fingers and heart. A good guitar player can make a sorry guitar sound fabulous. That's the truth.
