i went to my guitar shop today and found these new picks "Snarling dogs, Brain Picks"! Never seen them before tried one out and man these puppies are the best i have never used. bought a box got home and though my dunlops away. you guys used these before? the grip is amazing!

i use dunlop 1.14 mm gator picks right now, but the grip stuff goes away after some time. Maybe I'll try these picks.

The Brain picks and Dunlop .73 Ultex have been my picks of choice for years now. The grip on the Brain picks is very cool, and I think you get a pretty bright sound with those too.

Likewise. I tried the 1.0mm Dunlops and I just can't get used to them. .73-.80 is about as thick as I can go.
On the other end of the spectrum, my brother in law uses either the .38 or .46 Dunlop nylon picks on electric. Those are way too light and flimsy for me.

I dont use picks anymore, but I remember only likng the red Dunlops. .50 maybe?

It just feels comfortable for me. With heavy picks I get almost slowed down. Im most comfortable with my fingernails now though. Its not traditional per say but its my own style.
Anyways, ya thick picks slow me down

i wont use anything but the orange dunlops. what are they, .60?

This is what I use:
For Tommy Emmanuel (usually pick + fingers) - 2mm
For Tim soloing - 1mm
For strumming - 0.6-0.8mm
I use medium gauge strings though.
For light it might be better to use somewhat thinner picks.
