Buying a backup guitar . . .
I currently play a Takamine EF341SC. I love this guitar, and am probably not going to upgrade it for quite a while. However, I'm the music director of a teen program at my church, and I play my guitar at mass every week, so I'm lookin' for a backup guitar, because I can't just replace a string during the middle of mass. Lookin' in the $300-$500 range, and really don't need anything phenomenal, just somethin' that sounds okay plugged in. I play through a Marshall AS50R. Any ideas you guys might have, I was lookin' at some Ibanez's, but in reality, I could buy a cheaper Takamine with the same pickup, I could care less about how it sounds unplugged. Anyhoo, any suggestions?

Yeah? I was thinking along those same lines, the unplugged sound really has no bearing because I'll most likely only be playing this thing through my amp, so I might even buy one online without playing itSimsUK wrote:In that range, for an A/E, I can't think of anything better straight out of the box than one of the Tak G-Series guitars.

Of course I'd play a couple, for shits. I'm not really worried about buying something like a G-Series online, again, I've had nothing but good experiences with Tak, and it's really the plugged-in sound I'm lookin' for, along with okay acoustic feel. Thanks Slimer.
Still open to other suggestions however.

Yeah, I think I might go with the EG340SC. Assuming I find one and play it and like the way it feels, which I'm sure won't be a problem, I've liked the feel of just about every Tak I've laid my hands on. Thanks fellers.

Anyone got any opinions on Ovations? Yes, I know that plastic isn't really a great sound wood
, but my former bandmate had a mid-range (?) Ovation that sounded great plugged into this little Fender acoustic amp, really nice, clean acoustic sound, and so I haven't counted them out in my search for a backup. I'm gonna go play a couple at GC tomorrow, see if anything strikes me.
