Taylor 210

Unread post by dmb2191 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 1:24 pm

Im debating between getting the Taylor 210 and 110. The 210 is all solid wood and comes with a hardshell case for $200 extra. Would I be stupid to not spend the extra $200?

I wouldn't say stupid, but foolish yes. Nothing beats the sound of a solid wood guitar. Trust me, you won't regret spending the extra 2 hundred.
My guitars:
Taylor 714
Taylor 614ce
Martin Sigma DR-41
Epiphone Chet Atkins SST (Ebony)
Danelectro 56-U2 reissue
Fender American Deluxe Strat
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster
BC Rich Eagle Custom

But you might regret buying a Taylor 210.

I wouldn't buy a Taylor unless it was the 300 series or higher. I had a 310 before and loved it.

I'll raise, i dont think i'd buy any less than a 400 series, my roommate has a 410 and im not a big taylor fan but its alright, not worth the money he spent though in my opinion

Mangold, it is ok. You cannot expect everyone to have seen the light. Sigh, another wasted guitarist

i haven't played the 210, but I have the 214 and love it.

Definately go for the 200 series; nothing lower trust me the solid wood is worth it.

what about if you have $500 or less to spend on a guitar? i kinda thought my choices were limited to cheap martins or taylors. i tried out a 110 at a local store, and for $450 i thought it sounded pretty decent. What are other guitars i should look at if $500 is THE MOST i can possibly spend?

110 is junk. Check out Takamine in that price range. Lots of good Taks at good prices.

you can get a larrivee 03 series on the larrivee boards for about $625 - $650 shipped... if that's in your price range I'd do that

Yes... if that's all you have I would definitely look at getting a used guitar. If you check different forums you will be able to find a good deal I'm sure.

My brother and I both just bought guitars off the internet. I was a little nervous, but at most message boards you can tell who is trust worthy (many of them have sold on the boards before so you know it will work, and a lot of them have good ebay feedback too)

I couldn't be happier with my guitar :D

I played a Taylor 210 when I was looking for guitars and I was not impressed. I played a 310 that was alright, but not as good as Larrivee.

or probably save a little bit more to buy something that will last...

Anyway, check the usual thread (thanks mangold!):

As you can see, <$500 there are no Taylors or Martins better than other brands. These are best for medium-high end guitars.

Good luck man!
