Help Me!! Buying A Martin!
I'm buying a Martin in the 1,000-1,500 range....but..I need some help. I've read the other threads but I need help comparing two specific guitars.
I was thinking of getting either the HD-28V or the SWDGT. Are they both good? Would it be preferred to save up another 1,000 just to get the HD or is the SWDGT fine? I've been playing for like 4 years and finally have scrounged up to get one.

As usual, go and try a lot of guitars in that range and then pick the one you like the most.
In that range, you might also want to look at Larivee.

I have a D35, and it's just amazing...

If you're planning on playing live, I reccommend the DC16RGTE Aura....it's a pretty sweet "guit stick" if you're on stage alot. I can't even begin to describe the virtues of an oboard tuner. The only think I don't like about this guitar is the fact that the tuner won't work unless you're plugged in...easy fix though is to just get a 1/4 headphone jack adapter to keep in your case/pocket/around your neck...wherever....beats the heck out of carrying around a guitar cable all the time....but yeah, check it out if you get a chance. I really preferred it's sound over the D-28's and 35's I played. I really don't think I like a gloss finish...seems to deaden the sound to me...but I'm sure thats subjective to my ears. The only guitar in my shop that beat it was a D-18V...those vintage series instruments sound fantastic.

yea I agree with the above stated
Play the guitars man, because you don't want to run into getting something just for a name or look.
Two most important things are 1. the sound and 2. the feel. If it sounds crappy, don't bother. If it feels awkward, it will bring you pains in the long run . Then looks come in behind how the guitar is built, woods used, technical aspects like action and all that. Because obviously you don't want to be playing a guitar that you think looks like ass.
