Fender Strat vs. Gibson Les Paul

Unread post by DreaminBassMunky » Tue May 27, 2003 7:43 pm

Which would you take had you the option. Either a nice american made strat or a Les Paul? I guess it depends on which you're more conmfortable with, and which you've been playing longer. Not even considering price, which would you take. Personally I think I would take the strat, just cause I love strat's, and I learned to play on one.

I think Les Pauls deffinatley look nicer than Strats but I probably dont know enough about electric guitars to make an actual informed opinion either way. So theres my worthless contribution on this topic.

they're definitely both better in different aspects of music, so it all kinda depends on what music you're going to be playing.

i'd go Les Paul...i just love them. I've played both, and i like it more than the strat.

yeah, but it all depends on what type of music you play and which is more comfortable. the lp is used more for harder rock, while the strat is generally used for lighter rock (clapton) and blues rock (hendrix/srv) and funky stuff (rhcp). the lp is a lot heavier than the strat also. personally, i love the bluesy twang of the strat, but thats just my opinion.

I learned how to play on the strat and when I try a les paul it seems uncomfortable to play with its raised bridge. I love the sound of my lace senor pickups and the overall shape, weight, and feel of my strat. I would kill for a mid-50s strat.

There is a special time and place for single coil...unfortunately for Fender, there is always time for the Humbuckers ;)

My LP LTD. DELUXE REISSUE plays like a charm...strats are goood knock'a'round guitars, but I think Gibson makes better guitars peiod.

ehem... allow me to tell you about the ULTIMATE guitar! i just happen to own one :) ... what is it called you ask? its the GODIN LGX! im sure youre wondering what makes it so special? well besides the absolutely gorgeous finish to it: Image
it has an amazing sound no matter what you want.
pickups used:
2 Seymour Duncan Humbuckers (With Coil Taps, get the Les Paul or the Strat Sound out of it (maybe even a little mix of them)) L.R. Baggs Acoustic Bridge
now im sure youre wondering why it has all that. if you look closely at the guitar youll notice a number of controls. there is the 5 way switch, the tone knob (controls the coil tap), volume, balance, a built in ACOUSTIC EQ, and a 3 way switch. the 3 way switch controls the output of the guitar. it switches it between the Seymour Duncans, the L.R. Baggs, or a mix of both! what you cant see in the picture is the output of the guitar. it actually has 3 outputs. one for the Seymour Duncans, one for the L.R. Baggs, or one for a mix. you can even use all 3 at the same time!! it is definately an amazing guitar, so amazing that i spent all this time telling you about it. now im sure youre saying "Wow! Where can i get one?!?!" check the smaller shops near you, thats where i found mine! :)
