d-15 w/ fishman prefix plus on board

Unread post by mac4140 » Mon May 26, 2003 4:39 pm

hey-
I'm planning on getting a martin d-15...its listed at $590 on musicians friend but when looking at all the listings of the d-15, I saw a d-15 with a fishman prefix plus on board for $650...what do you guys recommend...is this specific fishman pickup alright? will it sound the same as the plain d-15 but with the ability to plug in? any info/suggestions are appreciated

i really REALLY dont like the D-15. i think it sounds absolutely horrible... if i were you id get a different guitar... you can find better for that price. however having a pickup installed USUALLY doesnt affect the sound.

I like the sound they produce. Hell of a sound actually. Shane, you must have played a bad one with shitty strings on b/c I have played a couple that have sound that compete with the higher end models. As for electronics, it will not effect sound.

that might be it, but all i know it was one of the crappiest sounds ive ever heard... a friend of mine had a fender acoustic that sounded better...

hmmm, that's odd because the d-15 is definitely one of the nicer low-ends out there.

I just got a d-15 and I love it, sounds excellent to me shane, but maybe I'm a stupid moron, anyways I was thinking about getting a pickup installed but I would hardly ever use it and micing it will do just as well for me.

D-15's are awesome

it may just have been the D-15 i played. most of the guitars i played yesterday (mainly taylors, a couple martins, and a larrivee) had dirty strings. the larrivee was even out of tune! so the ones you have played might be great, its just that the one i played sucked.
