T5
are T5s worth it? and i dont know much difference between the custom and stuff. i know the koa looks fuckin tits.
no their not. the electric half of the sound is pretty much worthless imo and the acoustic isnt as great as that kind of money can get you.

I don't really hate the T5 sound but I would buy a good les paul or something as an electric before I got the T5. It does play well and it sounds differnt, and you can get one for like $1500.filmdude100cms wrote:take your $5000, thatd youd spend on a t-5, get a nice les paul for amazing electric and a martin D-* for a great acoustic sound... the T5 sounds like crap IMO for the $

agreed. I would get a decent Les Paul, or an SG. then pick up an Epi Chet just for fun.mattinbeloit wrote:I don't really hate the T5 sound but I would buy a good les paul or something as an electric before I got the T5. it depends what syle of music you are playing. I believe les pauls are some of the most versatile guitars out there. they sound great playing just about any genre.DaveyeahMatthews wrote:sweet. thanks guys. so the bottom line is should i get an SG or a les paul. whats so good about les pauls. i know nothing about electric guitars. and hwo much would one cost me if im looking for a bright tone
I prefer the SG sound, but that's me.
the gibson les pauls dont skimp on craftsmanship and there are a million ad ons you can throw on one.
tonation on electrics is adjustable, so you really got to find a guitar you liek playing. i dont find les pauls all that playable for me. they are heavy and just dont fit me well, but i also hate taylors polayability.
tell us what you are going to play and it might be easier to make a recomendation./

SGs tend to complimented distortion and metal pedals more. If you're aiming for a more focused metal/hard rock/punk/hardcore/screamo/et cetera sound, look into the SGs.
Les Pauls also do a very good job with these styles, but are a lot stronger in the other ones. In this sense, they are versatile, but shouldn't necessarily be purchased if your main focus is going to be directed to the mentioned styles. Les Pauls hold their ground in pretty much any music genre and are a favorite amongst the rock genres, plays great as a jazz guitar, and pretty much everything inbetween and out of the mentioned boundaries.
