- Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.
I picked up a used fender acoustasonic junior for 299 and absolutely love it. It has two inputs and an xlr input so it works pretty well as a little PA system. To be honest i have never really liked crate amps for electric or acoustic but thats just my preference.
If you want to get a decent electric guitar i would look at a fender Made in Mexico telecaster, stratocaster or an Ibanez hollow body. New they are all around 400 and used they are much cheaper.
The ibanez has a very warm jazzy tone and the sustain is really nice due to the hollow body. The fenders sound a little more rock and roll to me especially if you upgrade the pickups to something like a texas special. Telecaster is a little more twangy countryish sound where the strat is a little more standard rock and roll in its tone.
Bottom line, if youre strapped for cash, go used, you pay a lot less and who cares if there are some scuffs or dings, you would have put them there eventually.
Good luck

Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

I used to have a Crate CA60D that I sold to go towards buying a PA...huge mistake. I love my PA, don't get me wrong, but the CA60D was the best acoustic amp I have ever owned/played through. I have seen them used for around $250. If 60 watts isn't enough, they also make a CA112D that is 100 watts I believe (2 X 50).
The D means delay, but they also have just the CA60 and CA112 which do not include the delay effects.
