What't the best guitar for under $300

Unread post by Gombo » Thu May 15, 2003 10:36 pm

I'm looking for a decent sounding guitar for under $300. I don't care if it's new or used. This guitar will be my second guitar. My main guitar is a HD-28V. I'm leaning towards something like a Seagull S6. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks

Gombo

I'd reccomend a Seagull or Art & Luthiere if you want a new one, but you'll get a better guitar if you go used.

ummm...i have an art & lutherie acoustic, and while is sounds incredible, whether or not you consider the price, they are not "built to last". the finish is starting to wear, and the bridge is starting to pull away fromthe top. it's about 7 years old though. i think it was around $400.

it looks really nice though. :D

Applause by Ovation, not sure what they'll run you, but they should be in that price range.

I'm not *too* big a fan of ovations in general, and I've never thought applauses had good tones. Just my person opinion.

I dont know if you'll find the S6 for under $300. I have a Seagull S6+Cedar and it was more towards $400. Every now and then I get sick of the deeper sound they make but overall I like it. The neck is pretty wide so it helps if you have big hands

I got a quote from musiciansbuy.com for $269 for a Seagull S6+Cedar. A case would be more though. You have to email them for a price.

WELL YOUR OPINION IS WRONG! no, im kidding:D i think theyre great little things. but when it comes to guitars, ten players can give ten different answers.
Gombo, i'd suggest going to a local shop & spending some time in there, testing out the guitars. the employees usually know what they're talking about, so tell them what you're into, & what direction you'd like to go.

I have an Ibanex AW50, which was about $250. I think it's a great guitar for the price.
