Acoustic-Electrics

So this summer I'm planning on upgrading my guitar but what do you guys recommend- buying a guitar with the electronics already installed with the on-board pre-amp and stuff, or getting a straight-up acoustic and having a pickup installed? What're the pros and cons of each?

I think having an onboard pre-amp would be better. I truthfully dont know anything about acoustic pickups. I had a fishman pickup installed in my guitar, and I am not impressed with it's sound. but then again, i havent played it through a nice acoustic amp.
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

you'll want to get an on-board preamp either way. it doesn't really detract from the sound and it helps alot to have the controls directly in front of you.

my next guitar is gonna be a 12 string with out any electronics. then later i am gonna have them installed.

you can get a much better guitar without electronics cuz well you'll have that much money that you don't have to spend for the pickup. then as you get more money and want to make another upgrade you can get the pre-amp and pickup.

it's also good to have a mic/piezo mix pickup. it'll help to make it sound more natural.

i mean really it depends how much money you want to spend, whether or not you'll be playing this throughj a system anytime soon, how much money you'll be making in the future and whther you'll want to come back to the guitar to have it upgraded or you want a ready to go model.
