HOW CAN YOU STAND THE SQUEAKING?!?
i've been using Elixers for a few months now, and i dont know how im going to manage without them. the shop was out of every elixer set except extra lights, and they dont carry any other coated strings. so i had to settle for these, and man, the string talk is terrible. i have some string spray, but even with that, bleh.
i hope these last me only a week, because im not a patient person.

bottom line - coated strings or i shall die.

Maybe it's your fingers??? I can't tell you....do your fingers have calluses? My finger tips are pretty solid now, maybe that's it. Maybe your technique, style, or something are making them squeak. Im not saying i've never heard strings squeak, but I havent had a problem with it in a long time

mmmmhmm. i came to this conclusion as i was playing tonight.
i hadnt played my guitar in almost a week because it had no strings, thus my fingers were starting to get soft, even flaky (eww). i reckon they'll be back to normal soon, and my dislike for D'addarios will cease.
so, problem solved. this may be deleted and your leisure :D

i have pretty hard calluses and i think that can make the squeaking worse.

the only other thing is i think with elixirs you can be kinda sloppy about finger placement and chord changing cuz it lets you get away with out those squeaks. in a way it is easier. when you go back to uncoated strings you have to relearn hand placement to minimize the string squeak. but where elixirs have basically no string squeak, you will always have some with the uncoated or even EXP's because of their coating method.

Im getting a set later today and will be putting them on immediatley cuz my strings are old. I hope there as good as what the majority of the people on here say they are. If anyone happens to read this in time, should I get the EXP's, or the EJ ones? Ive never heard of the EJ kind, are they coated/uncoated? Thanks.

I use D'Addario lights and the feel is worth the string noise (which is not that bad). I play much better on them. Coated is bad ummmkay.

I actually started out playing with Elixers and I loved them, how you didn't have to change them for a while, the sound and the way you could easily slide with them. But after stringing some uncoated and playing with those for a week, I now Hate coated strings with a passion and I find uncoated much easier to play.

(Just putting in my 2 cents)
