A Taylor or A Martin! Plz Help!
Im in the process of buying a new guitar, and it came down to these 2 choices: a "Taylor 110E" and a "Martin DCX1E".
I wish i can play them both to decide, but unfortunately they are unavailable in my country, so i have to choose by reviews, and they both have great reviews.
So plz help "Taylor 110E" or "Martin DCX1E".
Or if anyone have any other suggestions at the same price range (650-700$).
Thnx alot

I can only say that I played the Martin DCX1E a couple of days ago, and I didn't like it very much. The D1 is a lil bit more pricey, but definetely worth the extra bucks in my opinion (if you're going for a Martin). But still, I'm going for a Larrivee myself, but I'm spending a lil bit more than you.

First you need to make sure what you want, concerning:
- Body size: do you want a dreadnought?
- Do you need the cutaway?
- Do you really want electronics?
Then check those stores you mentioned for the best guitar with those features.
You might also like to consider Alvarez (check that thread by praise that I mentioned earlier).
I've never played a Larrivee, but they're quite popular here in the Forum, and people seem to think that's the best option for the price range. I've also tried some takamine and alvarez dreadnoughts on that price range, but not sure what model (they were nice).

It sucks that i can't first play the guitar that im buying, and there are tons of things to concider.
Like i heard that this martin top isnt even made of wood in the reviews ?? but they both said Sitka Spruce top(isnt that wood?).
And as for the size, dreadnought or whatever i have no idea coz i've been playing electric guitar for about 3 years and i havent even touched an acoustic so i dont really know, but now i switched to acoustic ,and i have a crappy guitar that's not worth 5$ ,so any raplacment will be a major upgrade .

If you want a louder unplugged sound, maybe a dreadnought is a good option. It also matters your style of playing. For fingerstyle you might want to consider a smaller body.
A quick search on music123 got me these ones:
1. http://www.music123.com/Alvarez-MD90-i125924.music
It doesn't have a pick up, but it's all solid.
2. http://www.music123.com/Takamine-EG530SSC-i161833.music
This one has pick-up, but only solid top.
Keep searching with this in mind. Other guys here at the forum have more expertise than me and will give you further insights later today, I'm sure.
Good luck.

i strongly advise against both of those guitars actually. like everyone above has said, takamines or alvarez will give you much more bang for you buck at that price range. taylor and martin is not a good investment at the lower end.

Thanks alot every body, insted of buying i went and exchanged my electric guitar for a Takamine EG531C.
Its loud unplugged and has a good preamp and a built in tuner which saves alot of time, the action is a lil bit high but i guess it can be easily modified.
I'm gonna start saving money and maybe i'll get a Taylor 714 or even a Martin DM3MD someday.
Thnx again everybody for your advice ,i really appreciate it.
