What the hell is happening to my strings?!
i am about to start boycotting elixers! when i bought my taylor they came with elixer lights and i loved the sound. now im trying to change them. the first time i tried to change it my G string snapped. i have no idea how. although im still new to changing strings ive done it 3 or 4 times on my old guitar and never had a problem. but anyways so i went out and got another pack, this time i decided to try nanoweb coating instead of polyweb.. whatever that means. and with the new pack ive replaced the G string i snapped, and changed the low E. according to my tuner they are both tuned correctly but they are ridiculously loose and twangy? what the hell is going on! any help appreciated.

yup, don't blame the strings for your short comingsjrbleiguy wrote:elijah77jc wrote:hmm, maybe you're an octave too low?

also, I noticed elixers dont like to be put on... ...i dont know how to word it, but when you trap the string first. I just wind it around the peg a few times and then stick the exess string over the top of the winds and through the hole in the peg and they never break. everytime i try and trap the string first i end up snapping one.
the problem is with user error not the strings. i can assure you. you have to go slow, especially with the G string because it has the thinest core of all the strings. also make sure theyre all on before you start tuning, then you start at E and tune up by ear, this will tighten the neck so by the time you get to highe low e will be flat again, repeat this process until youre completely tuned
