Acoustic into firepod..Best sound?
Hey guys I rarely post on here because i'm a drummer haha but I got a question. My band is going to purchase a firpeod at the begining of the summer and I was wondering what the best way to record an acoustic would be?We would really like to play and jam together but I know micing an acoustic amp will sound like dirt. What should we do? I know we can get a headphone amp and play together through that but should we plug the guitar through a Di first and then the firepod or can I plug it right into the interface? If nothing I guess we'll lay down a rythm track by micing the guitar even though we'd REALLy prefer to play together. Anways any help would be appreciated. Also incase needed the mics available will probably be an sm57 and akg perception 200. Thanks!

recording- condenser mic, but im not sure if that will work in your situation.. if you explain what exactly youre going to be doing i can help you more
are you recording live? if so, you can either mic the amp or run the acoustic through a di box and right in to the mixer or firebox (im not sure what that is)
any more questions, just ask

A firepod is basically a big mbox but it has 8 inputs and preamps and it is made by presonus. I thought a lot of people would be familiar with it but there is probably more solo guitarists here rather than in a band. Anways yes we want to play together but Idk if plugging the guitar right into the interface will give a natural sound. That is why i'm wondering if running it through a di will work. There wont be worries about hearing it over the band cuz we'll be using headphones. Like I said the last resort is we just record with a condenser on the acousic and use it as a rythm track and overdub the rest of the band over it. Thanks.

You won't get that natural of a sound going through the pickup, and with some work, you could mic an acoustic amp and make it sound ok.
I think the best idea is to go ahead and run the direct line in to the Firepod, and since it will be an isolated track, mix it to your liking. Try to perfectly mix running into the recording is not the right idea. You can always apply effects in production, so don't worry about that. I think it will come out fine.
Best of luck.
