Looking for a new guitar

Unread post by Meine » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:56 pm

I currently have a Fender Telecoustic. I personally dont like it. So heres my plan. I want to trade it in to get a straight acoustic...or acoustic/electric. I am willing to spend about $350. I was looking at the Ibanez AW120 and the Alvarez RD8. (thoughts on these?)

I would like further suggestions on guitars in that price range that are still of good sound. I am still very new to the guitar world and any help is great.

My friend has an Alvarez RD8 and i'm preatty sure it will beat the socks off of any Ibanez, go for it.

I bought my alvarez AD60SC brand new for $350 shipped to my door.

you can find the previous model, but still brand new for around $300. Mine sounds amazing, plays great, and looks great too. I love the fingerboard with no fret marks.

I recommend buying a used guitar if you're in that price range.

I have a Takemine EG-240 that cost me 300 bucks. I would definitely recommend it, it's been a great guitar.

I would definately say the Alvarez, they are very nice guitar. I've heard bad things about Ibanez acoustics. You can't go wrong with Alvarez.

thanks guys...I have decided to go with the alvarez. It just felt right when I played it. The ibanez sounded twangy, not my favorite. Thanks for the advice ...hopefuly I be putting some song contributions on this site when I get all my recording gear...

thanks

I ordered mine without even playing it or hearing it. I played a fusion series and fell in love with alvarez.

If you listen to fatjacks old recordings here you'll hear it is a great guitar. I met a kid in portugal who was traveling with his ad60sc (a beater to him, he just bought it to travel) and this thing sounded like a dream in his hands.

Meine, what model did you get?

to excite you even more, i've played that same guitar w/out the cutaway and it was spectacular.. great feeling guitar. Sounds excellent too. I've got an Alvarez myself.. I couldn't refer a better line of guitars for the price.
