We're going to need a bit more info like price range, wood preference (if any) etc.

Overall, Taylor makes high quality instruments, and there are a good number of people who own them here who can give first hand experience.

for that price, you'd be in the 300-400 series. These are great, but I would *definetly* shop around. There are some completely, totally kickass Martins and Larrivees in that price range.

Try a 414-CE first or 414-C then just add your own pickup system (you'll save a bunch). Ovangkol has alot of the same similiarities as Rosewood; its good for strumming/fingerpicking. If you do like the 400 series, then talk to the salesman and see if he can drop the price to $1300 or less for 414-ce model. I actually got my Taylor 414-CE (w/Expression System) for around $1200 (1275, I think)

If you give me more specifics, I'll help you out as best I can. I know a good way to find a USED Taylor is going to the AGF Forums. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/index.php and doing an ISO: Taylor for $1500 or less. You'll find some real good deals going this route, problem is you can't play the guitar beforehand. However, you'll find these people take real good care of their guitars, some even have modifications in your favor (such as an upgraded bone saddle, etc.). Send me a PM if you need any more info.

Heres a really good deal on Larrivee.

people's personal differences about sound and guitar vary so much. I cant stand Taylors, while others love them. Oh well, whatever floats your boat, but don't buy one because Dave has one. That's lilke buying a black Chet Atkins, why would you ever want that guitar?

What a dumb question. It's simply an opinion, and the popular opinion is that the guitar kicks ass.
