Recording onto PC
I have been looking around for a little while for some kind of external hardware that i can hook up to my laptop to record both my acoustic and that has a mic input. I found this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/F ... ain-1.html and was curious if this will do what i want. Also any personal opinions of this product and any other similar equiptment would be great. If you think anything would be better let me know.

Buy an MBOX by digidesign (the people who make protools). They just came out with the MBOX2 which has MIDI support so the makes the old MBOX cheaper. It has 2 XLR inputs with that provide phantom power so you can hook a mic up to and and power it. It also has 2 1/4 inch inputs so you can hook up your guitar if you have a preamp in your guitar and you just want to record that as opposed to buy a mic for your guitar. Also, when you buy the MBOX it comes with the protools program. Anyway, i have been using one of these for a year now and i cant say enough good things about it, and the best thing about it is it hooks up through your USB port and is very protable. Check it out on musiciansfriend or is you EBAY im sure you can find a great price in there. Let me know if you have specific questions about it since i have it sitting right here by my and have been using it for a bout a year now.
edit: don't type when you've had something to drink, lol... take a long nap and then try...

do you have any files that i could listen to with it. like one with just guitar and one with just vocal, and then combined? i know im kind of asking for alot so if you cant have that up for a while its cool. Also does it support USB 2.0mattinbeloit wrote:Buy an MBOX by digidesign (the people who make protools). They just came out with the MBOX2 which has MIDI support so the makes the old MBOX cheaper. hey i will be happy to post some sound clips sometime, i just want to point a few things out. First of all, all of my stuff that i record i use some really nice mics. so the quality is always going to depend on what kind of mic you have. If you want i can record some stuff by hooking up my taylor with the fishman preamp so you are just hearing how it records that as opposed to the variety you are going to get through different mics. So if you want i can do that for you, i don't have any way of converting my waves to mp3 right now (im home for christmas break, i need my computer in ym dorm room...) but when i get back to my room on the 15th i can do clips of whatever you want. Also, i would imagine it supports USB 2...
