I'm not familiar with the M-Audio brand/model, but most USB cards are very good quality.

I recently purchased the M-Audio MobilePre USB, I've done a little so far, nothing worth posting, but I love it: quality is good, and it's simple and user-friendly. Very good buy. I should have a recording up tomorrow in the Recording & Critiquing forum that you can hear. Good luck.

i bought one of these a few days ago, was hoping someone who might have one can help me out since tech support is slow as hell

i installed everything as directed (software, drivers), made sure everything was updated through the m-audio.com site. now when i plug in my acoustic-electric through the ch. input, im not getting any sound feedback through any of my programs, the 'signal' light doesnt light up either, i tried both instrument channels, and also my mic through both xlr input, nothing. not sure what im doing wrong, but its very frusturating, any help?

make sure you open up the settings from your system tray and turn USB record all the way up

Also, in the actual recording program, make sure the input setting is set to the USB device, not your computer's sound card.

ok, i'm using Live Lite, should it be set to M-Audio MobilePreDX or MobilePre Wave? also for driver type it says either MME/DirectX or ASIO? under ASIO the option is M-Audio USB ASIO interface.

It's just a noisy device, and you probably have a noisy mic on top of it. What mic are you using? I have a shure KSM-109 and there isn't any noise unless i turn it way up, which is there with the mic or not, so i can attribute that to the mobilepre. it's just the nature of the beast.

Kahn, go to "Options," then "Settings," then the "Devices" tab, and you should see it there, just like Windows sound control panel or something, it'll have a listing of available sound card devices and shit, just select the MobilePre.

And yeah, it CAN be a little noisy, I usually sample a "silent" part of the recording, then derive a noise floor from that within the noise reduction filter, then slap the whole track with the noise reduction filter, and BINGO! No more fuzz. Anal is good. I mean, uhh, retentive . . .
