Suggestions for acoustic-electric guitar....
I'm gonna buy a new a acoustic-electric. I'd like to stay under a grand but if something was really worth it I might be able to go $1500. I was hoping to get some suggestions as to what to look for and what to stay away from.

I prefer the takamine G series: EG523SC and EG523C-12
My 2 Guitars:

and

All together both cost me a little under a grand. I got mine from Music & Arts.

You own a 514cr?dmbfan101 wrote:try getting the martin dcme martin dcx1e, taylor 514cr, and taylor 414ce..i think ull find those particallurly genuine guitars...i own the first 3

I got my 314ce L30 used for 1300 with a whole bunch of upgrades, not a blemish on it. The guitar was less than 2 months old, and wasn't a demo. Turns out, the guy bought it, and traded it back for a 355 (12er).
Any good guitar shop should have used guitars on hand. Sometimes you get lucky and save yourself a grand, not to mention, a quality used guitar is often better sounding than new. I'm a huge advocate of buying used, just make sure your shop is reputable and stands behind their used products.
In my opinion, the 414 and 514 aren't much different than a 314. Definitely do not look below the 300 series. I've seen 600s going fairly cheap in the used market. Those guitars are freakin' gorgeous and sound like butter.
You should ask around in the gear forum.

save your money and buy a martin, taylor, or larrivee. All are well worth the money and you get what you pay for. As with all guitars though, you MUST play them and hear them before buying. I have a cheap takamine i paid 150 bucks for and it sounds as good as some highend guitars i have picked up. The price doesn't always represent the actual sound, but with martin, taylor, or larrivee, you are atleast getting a quality constructed instrument. Ultimately let your ears decide. good luck

Thank you all for your input.
The popular opinion seems to be, you can't go wrong with a Taylor or Martin but if you don't have that kind of coin to check out Taks... Are the low end Taylors or Martins worth it?
I'm going to Guitar Mega-Giant-Factory-Direct-Outlet-Center this weekend and play a few.

You can't go wrong with Alvarez Yairi, I have a Yairi DY84 and it's the most beautiful thing you've ever laid eyes on or heard. My friends have Martins, Taylors, Takamine, ect. and they paid almost double what I paid and play as good as if not better, they seem louder or something. Even the low end Alvarez or Yairis are nice, another friend has one and it plays quite well
Yeah man, no worries about where you posted. All good. And yes, this is the place where you can post about guitars you want to Buy/Sell.IvoryZion wrote:man... I even posted this to the wrong phorum initially... it's tough being partially retarded. Thanks to the moderators for setting me straight. Is this gear phorum the place to buy and sell as well? Anyone want to sell me their Taylor 810ce (2005) for < 1k? I'll even pay shipping.
And about that Taylor 810 for <$1K...good luck

I just picked up a Tak EAN-10C. It's not fancy, just sounds great! I ended up paying about $800 for it (talked guitar center guy down from $900), and it was well worth it. It's a great mid-level guitar.
Like everyone said, all that matters is that you like the way it plays and sounds. Don't forget to plug the thing in when trying it out, too.

I spent a few hours yesterday in a couple different shops playing guitars. I've decided I simply need a Taylor 410ce. I just love the sound. The standard price on this thing seems to be about the same everywhere I look ($1600). If I buy it online I don't have the 8% tax which is nice. I'm wondering if there's somewhere I haven't looked that I might get a better deal? Any ideas?
