Unread post by lakerhoc1121 » Sat Nov 26, 2005 8:44 pm

martin dcx1e or taylor 214e.... i like both and i just cant decide which 1...i went to the guitar shop to get the 214 but than saw the martin and played it plugged in and it was hot shit. so i left and have been contemplating my decision.... any feedback would be appreciated if you own one of these....

I'd either save up for a higher model of either (or an even better brand) or go with an Alvarez. You'll get a better guitar for that price range.

i know the taylor is laminated, is the martin? If the martin is solid wood get it... I agree, both are good guitars, but two very different sounds, just depends if you like that clear "perky" sound of the taylor or the classic bassy martin.

I think you could get a better guitar for the money if you went with a different maker. It seems that since these two guitars are total opposites you would have a clear cut preference as to which one you like better.

Neither, you'll only get an itch in a month or two to buy something better. Save up and get a larrivee.

I agree about the Larrivee recommendation and for that price range he doesn't need to save up. He could get an 03 series Larrivee for the money. The 03's are plain jane/no frills guitars but I've heard it from Matthew Larrivee himself that has far as tone/build quality goes the 03's are on par with anything else they make.

I like my 214, it gets the job done, and it isn't laminated like whoever said.
