whats so great about Chets?

Unread post by DT » Wed Apr 23, 2003 12:30 pm

the other day, i stopped in a guitar center again and tried out a whole bunch of guitars i hadnt seen before, and i happened to spot a chet... since everyone talks about them like therye the greatest thing ever i was happy to be trying one out..... i was pretty dissappointed, it just felt like any other electric, with a little bit of acoustic sound to it- is that just why everyone likes it, because they want a mix of the two worlds? honestly, i didnt like the way it felt, and for some reason the fretboard seemed way too slick(if that makes sense).

so whats the big deal?

well to each his own...I never said it was the greatest thing ever...just really awesome in my opinion...awsome action, nice clean sound with acoustic strings...great attack and plays awesome withought any need for preamps...not go for soloists, but is great when playing with a band...doesn't really sound like an electric unless you want it to and have strings of the nature on it...I just think it was a good buy for me...

If i remember correctly, from a previous post a while back, someone said that on antsmarching there was a fishman representative or sumthin that said that the only mod dave had was to put a fishman natural matrix II in it instead of the natural matrix I

i believe this is correct...but i could be wrong

Ya, that's the only modification to the guitar that I know of, but Dave added shitloads of preamps and sansamps and other stuff to the signal.

dave has about $10,000 worth of equipment in his rack...one of the reasons he has such a good sound. personally, i don't think the chet sounds that amazing, but its a BLAST to play.

I don't think he had $10,000 in his rack the whole time he's played a Chet though. He's been playing them for a long time. Long before he was rich enough to put that much money into pre-amps and stuff.
