No more Squier Strat
Hey everyone, after reading and going on this site for the past two years or so, I finally created a user name. It took a little while but hey.
I have had a squier strat pack, yes i know i know, and I'm finally going to get a decent acoustic. I just dont know what to get. I play a lot of dmb, pearl jam. I'm not that bad either. I have $500-$800 to spend and I want something quality (I'll be bringing it to school with me). I've heard good things about seagulls and alvarez's, I just don't know what model to look into. I also know to stay away from lower end taylors, or so I've heard. Anybody have any suggestions?

No offense, but that guitar's laminated sides/back isn't going to sound as good as a less named but solid wood acoustic.guitardmb wrote:I have a Taylor 110. Its lower end but it sounds great, and for a first acoustic it should be really good. Also something in the Takamine or Alvarez. I know a Takamine G-series is pretty good.

Take a look at Takamine. Also, if you live in a city with a craigslist take a look on that too. I'd try to find one on that kind of site first because you can play it and hold it (unlike ebay) and it'll be cheaper than a guitar megastore.

dreadnoughts are the bigger fuller bodies. its the same style dave uses and is good for when your strumming and such.
Martin D-28

folk/000 are smaller body most people get them for smaller people and tim uses them sometimes. there better for the finger picking area and are good with strumming(its all pretty much preference between the two). i know them mostly as 000(thats what martin calls them) and alvarez calls them folk.
