mid range acoustics

Unread post by Appfro » Tue Aug 23, 2005 1:03 pm

i appologize for making this thread again but i swear a searched and couldn't find what i was looking for.

my friend got a really nice epiphone les paul, paid like 1300 bucks for it. it was his beginner guitar  i know.

anyway, now that he's figured out that he bit off more than he could chew he wants to trade it in for an acoustic. my questions are:

1. should he trade in or is he going to lose so much money that it would be smarter to ebay it or at least sell by owner

2. what mid range acoustic should he get? i told him about alvarez which imo is the best mid range but what are some other brands that make good 3 - 6 hundred dollar guitars. also, what brands should he stay away from.

thanks for the help, he'll apreciate it too.

for acoustics- i'd get an alvarez or a seagull.
i'd stay away from gibson/epiphone. I've never been slightly impressed with them (acoustic wise of course)

high end gibson acoustics are amazing. Their jumbos are especially great. However, these are pretty pricey. The Epi master built series should be something to check our. The Takamine G series, and Larrivee's 03 series are also great.

1,300 for an Epi Les Paul??? is your friend retarded???

I love my alvarez, i've played some seagulls and they sound great, but I
A: hate the headstock
B: hate the almost processed feel of the wood
and
C: the fact that it's canadian

tell him to look into Tak's or alvarez's. play as many as he can and figure it out from there.

I recently bought a used Epiphone Masterbuilt DR-500R and I am really enjoying it so far. It is 100% solid wood. It has a solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, gold Tuners, and is sounds great. It also came with a "rigid" gig bag with a hygrometer built in. I think that new ones go for about $500. Here are a couple of pics...

Blueridge. All solid wood on the historic series, built like pre-war martins. The D-28 and OM-28 styles go for $500, great deal.

...yea. but in his defense it's a gibson except for the name on it. it really is tweeked out pretty nicely. but yea, he's absolutely retarded. he bought it cause he was going through a punk phase. died his hair, got the hawk, pink belts, the works. i tack it on to depression after getting back form overseas. since then he's realized his retardedness, decided to start playing country music and get an acoustic for his electric. so that's the whole story.

Check our Garrison guitars. Mine was close to 5 hundred & sounds great. ALL WOOD, unique bracing system that allows for unparalleled resonation of the strings for a guitar that price. Elixirs sound great on them.
