Micarta Fretboard

Unread post by srslots81 » Mon Aug 01, 2005 10:29 am

anyone have a negative experience with Micarta Fretboards? My new martin has one, and i dont mind the look or playability, but wood is so much nicer and more natural. Ive done research and found pros and cons, but anyone have their own opinions to share?

I have a DC-16RGTE Aura, and the model up, the DC-16RE Aura, which has Stripped Ebony Fretboard, and glossed sides and back for that matter, is $400 more. Is it worth $400 for the upgrade from Micarta to Ebony, and Satin to Gloss Sides and back?

I dont have any experience with these. But my Larri has an Ebony fretboard that is stupendous.

yeah the Larrivees have better wood selection for the money you pay. No doubt there. I dont understand why Martin would use a synthetic material. Although it does play fine, its just not as authentic. Now that i think about it, having rediculous Aura electronics in it isnt too vintage itself.
