squiar strat... has a clean single coil sound. thats my personal fav for a cheap blues guitar.

EDIT-it also says 300-400 u can get a mex. strat for that much. it doesnt say 100-200.

true... i'm assuming he's starting out and doesn't have an amp though right?

All in all i'd say if you could save another 150$ or so you could get that Fender Deluxe Players Strat that eveyrone has been raving about for it's tone if you really wanted a good guitar for the money.

No, hes no beginner.

He needs an upgrade from the 100 dollar peavey i got him last year lol.

Anymore recommendation? i dont like squier particularly, and cheap fenders are crap.

the mexi's, when put through a decent amp, actually keep a nice tone.

If so, I have a black mexi strat with white pickguard. Yes the generic strat. And for the extremly little electric playing I do, it gets me by.

i'd also say to look into an older strat squier. like the ones from the early/mid 90's that said Fender in the normal spot and then said squier all small on the circle of the headstock.
you can find one fro around $120 or less and some of them sound pretty damn decent.
