Has anyone played one of these guitars?
I am looking on buying a new guitar in the very near future. I was hard pressed on either getting a Martin or Taylor in the 1200 - 1500$ range. After looking for and reading countless reviews on the internet, I thought I have made my choice with the Taylor 310ce. I thought this was going to be my choice until just about an hour ago. I found these guitars while looking on ebay http://www.zagerguitar.com . Apparently, the owner developed a system in which he makes the guitars 30 - 50% easier to play, with his modifications to the bridge and nut. They say that these guitars are the easiest playing acoustic guitars. On their site it has many testimonials on how these are the greatest guitars, but I wasnt going to be fooled by testimonials that they probally wrote, so I went over to harmony central and looked up reviews. Suprisingly, the reviews on all these guitars were near perfect. They even got same if not better reviews than the Taylor model I was interested in

Has anybody here play these type of guitars??? If i can save 1000$ by getting a simiar quality (playing and sound) as a taylor, ill take one of these any day. These Zager guitars even come with a lifetime warranty.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
thanks.

exactly how do you measure the percentage of ease in playing a guitar. I wouldn't buy any guitar priced more than 50 dollars before I played that exact guitar my self. I don't understand how people buy guitars over the internet. To me no two guitars are the same.

I played one higher end and loved it so i took a gamble, and i LOVE my guitar.
IMO, I don't think the zager guitars are worth it. He takes mediocre guitars gives them a great set-up and charges a buttload of money for them. I think you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.
FWIW, I've purchased all my guitars over the internet (I play lefty) and have always been satisfied. The key is making sure you buy from a reputable dealer who has a good return policy.

I have two Larrivees and I always recommend people check them out. As far as the quality of construction is concerned they are on par with the best factory built guitars (martin, taylor etc..). IMO you get more for your money by getting a Larrivee. Even their cheapest models (the 03 series) are solid wood throughout, mahogany neck and the whole nine yards, and you get a new one for right around $700. I don't think any other maker can compete with those features at that price point.

I wouldn't put much stock into any reviews at Harmony Central. The fact is that most people don't want to admit the guitar they just paid several hundred or thousands of dollars for is anything but completely amazing. I don't think it's a good place to look for unbiased info.
I wouldn't dream of buying a guitar online if I hadn't *at the very least* played the same model in person. If you're interested, find a way to play one.

If you do end up going with the Taylor, I would suggest getting one without a pickup. They are priced about 200 less without them, and you can buy a better pickup for around 70 dollars. I have had a lot of problems with the pickup that came with my Taylor. It was a major pain. I finally got a new pickup installed.
