what as the style name of those guitars that look like they have a hubcap on them. you know, the one that G. Love uses, and Elvis used to rock for a while.

Its called a resonator guitar. I dont think you can isntall anything on a regular guitar to make it a resonator :?

oh, i saw on ebay a kit. but it was made by either johnson or hohner, so it is probably complete shit.

what makes them special and sound so cool, just the hubcap?

they have high action and the "hubcap" makes the sound unique. mostly they're used as lapguitars or at least slide guitars. but they're unique cause you CAN use them as regular guitars.

I dont like the way they sound, at least for my style of music. Ed from the Barenaked Ladies plays the often I think.
