Is there such a thing as a cheap Martin
So I've been lookin at some martins and found a few less than 300 dollars. Seemed to me a bit cheap for the name. Just wondering if anyone can say a bit about this, what the best Martin model is...thanks

Low end Martins arent very good at all. The good ones start around 1000 or so. For that price a Tak or Alvarez is your best bet.
Im guessing that the Martin company gets more buyers out of the higher end guitars than the lower end ones, so they build the lower end ones crappier than they should be if that makes any sense. I dont know if that is right, but it makes sense to me at least.

Yeah, it really depends on your definition of cheap. At $300, as someone else pointed out, it is not worth buying a Martin.
If you can save up another $400 or more you can get some good martins. The guitar I bought was around $1000. It wasn't the most expensive one but it was the one that sounded the best. Every time I go to a guitar shop to look at new ones I still haven't found one that sounds better IMO.

The trend has changed for the holy trinity of guitar makers, since so many OTHER companies are making low end cheapos, in order to stay competitive co's like Martin, Taylor, etc. have to make lower end instruments.
A cheap Martin beats a Johnson acoustic anyday, but if you're serious enough and you can save enough you'll be happier with a "better" instrument.
