PA's

Unread post by Kahn » Thu Jun 16, 2005 7:39 pm

You guys know anything about some good PA's for not too much money? Need something for a full band set-up. Something to support 1 monitor, 2 tops, and anything else I need. I don't know much about them so just tell me about what I need and what everything does. Thanks in advance.

I don't know in terms of wattage, but I need something where in my band (acoustic, electric, Upright bass, drums, keys) My voice can cut threw everything. I want it to project and easily be heard.

behringer makes some pretty good mains

they not expensive either, the 15's are 200 bucks a pop i believe

also, check ebay
i got all my rack equipment from there: amps, crossovers, powerconditioners

and definetly make your own cables.. the pre-made ones are extreemly overpriced

whatever you get, be prepared to spend a LOT of money

oh, by the way, i run a little over 200 watts into each main speaker, about 100 into each monitor, and about 100 into my sub.. and i have a specially designed sub; normal subs take 4 or 5 times that amount of power

it can get plenty loud... definetly loud enough for bars, coffee shops, etc

if you let us know what kind of shows you'll be playing it would give us a better idea of what you need

im suggesting...

mains: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=l ... id/600592/
i have these... i have had no problems, and they use speakon.. very nice

monitor(s):http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=l ... id/600594/

mixer: at LEAST 8 channels, i would suggest mackie, i have a small behringer, and if i were to buy a better one it would probably be a mackie

amps: you can get a powered mixer, or get rack mount ones... each on of those main speakers can handle 200 watts, that means on each channel of the amp.. i have a bunch of samson servos.. i think the one i use for my mains is a servo 550

the comes all the miscellanious stuff.. i would get a bunch of shure sm58's, also speaker stands, mic stands, and you could go on forever

keep the questions coming
