Varnish polish

Unread post by guitardmb » Tue May 24, 2005 4:22 pm

I have a Varnish finish on my guitar. And I have Martin Proffesional Guitar Polish that I used on my gloss finish on my old guitar. Can I still use this or do I use something else?

By varnish do you mean a satin finish? If it's a satin finish the polish you have for it isn't going to do anything for it. A soft damp cloth is all you need.

Since its a different finish it might not work, or be harmful.

i'd be VERY surprised if it harmed your guitar and if it doesnt work then dont do it again. thats my opinion, maybe im not educated enough on the subject

if it's a polish it's not going to hurt it. if it's an oil it could, depending on what it is.

Here is a link to an old thread on the Larrivee forum. It says not to use polish or waxes on it, thought it doesn't say why.

I want to say that I got something with my Larrivee (which has a satin finish) that said the only thing you need to use is a damp cloth but I couldn't find it. If all else fails call Taylors customer service number and ask them.
