12er pickup question

will a soundhole pickup for a 6 string work on a 12er? i dont think it will, but i saw john butler with a soundhole pickup on his 12er.

Mine works. Sounds just as good as when its used in the 6 string, which isn't good, but it gets the job done.

I have the dean markely humbucker model. I think it cost me around 60 dollars when i got it, not sure though.
