My Martin sucks
My Martin sucks
this isn't a "you should buy a taylor" thread.
I have a martin D 16 GT, it sounds so good, nice and bassy, but my G string and my B string NEVER stay in tune. especially if i bend them. it pisses me off to no end. should i put new tuning machines on it or should i go trade it in for a better martin?

the problem is probably the pins, not the tuners. buy new ones, its like 15 bucks

It sounds like either a bridgepin problem or something.....could be the way you install the strings, but it seems like all the strings would get out of tune. Or it could be the strings you use, try tuning the strings up a few steps higher then letting it back down to normal tune....you know stretching it out, that helps sometimes. No Martin I have including my DC-16GTE has a tuning problem, but it could be a couple of loseh tuning machines.
If you bought it new, it has a lifetime guarentee with the original owner, so you could get whatever is wrong repaired for free.
the string may be slipping off the tuner as well

only if the tuners are bad. i give plenty of leadway w/ my string so it won't slip.praisedave wrote:the string may be slipping off the tuner as well

so i went and finally got off of my butt and got my martin set up. i looked up my guitar online and everyone has said the same thing, action is too high. plus the pickup i had in it was crap. so i took it to a guy had the action lowered and a new pickup put in. man it's amazing now. i freaking love it. sounds so much better, so much easier to play and the pickup is sooooooooo nice. it was cheap, like 60 bucks but it sounds so good. awesome awesome awesome. just thought i'd let you guys know
