From years of experience/experimentation and a thin wallet afterwards, go with:

SWR California Blonde, anything Ultrasound, and Trace Elliot TA100...

the rest are garbage...and anyone who tells you different has never used them in practical applications (tour, studio, CBGB's, etc.)

It's his choice..if he likes the guitar, don't deny him it..I love my DX-1 and it's not all solid wood.. but it still sounds great, so I don't care. If he likes it, he can get it.. it's his choice

my friend has a DG for under 700, its beautiful, except, its not very loud. Great great tone tho. dont just determine on a model. Go there and buy what sounds best. Each guitar is different.

did you read my first post? don't try to convince me otherwise - i like it because its acoustic/electric, sounds wonderful for the price, and isn't all composite

I have a DCX1E and love it. I bought it as a gigging guitar so I don't have to risk getting beer spilled on my solid woods. Good choice.
